Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the party access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
